St. Peter Claver Cristo Rey Catholic High School

St. Peter Claver Cristo Rey Catholic High School is located at 5301 South 36 Street in Omaha. The high school opened in 2007 and is part of the Christo Rey Network, which is a nationwide network of Catholic high schools targeted at urban young people with limited educational options. While the original Christo Rey school was founded by a Jesuit and some of the schools in the Christo Rey network are affiliated with the Jesuits, the St. Peter Claver Cristo Rey Catholic High School is operated by the Omaha Archdiocese and has no direct relationship with the Jesuit community in Omaha. The high school is named after St. Peter Claver who was an early 17th century Jesuit known for his work in Cartagena, Colombia ministering to the slaves in transit from Africa to North America.
